Earlier today, we reported that Henry Cavill has been officially cast in the upcoming Netflix series based on The Witcher novels. The show will not be based off the popular video games, rather the books written by Andrzej Sapkowski. Cavill will play Geralt of Rivia, the main protagonist of the franchise.
Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich took to Twitter to congratulate Cavill.
He was my first meeting. I didn’t have writers or scripts yet – just a greenlight and a lot of passion. That was four months ago, and I’ve never forgotten the passion he brought. He IS Geralt. He always has been. I’m so thrilled to welcome HENRY CAVILL to the #Witcher family.

There’s not yet a release date for the series, but Cavill’s involvement with The Witcher has sent social media in a frenzy. While there are many who are excited about this casting, there are other fans who are both worried and convinced that this is a sign that Cavill will no longer play Superman. There have not been any rumors that state this to be true and actors balance movies and television shows all the time.
