At GVN Talking Comics, we are always thrilled to share some of the creative elements that go into producing a great project. Now, thanks to our friends at Comixology Originals, we once again get that chance. Multi-award-winning science fiction and fantasy author Adrian Tchaikovsky is making his graphic novel debut with Salvation’s Child, a prologue to his bestselling and acclaimed The Final Architecture series. This epic space opera, set in a universe where humanity teeters on the edge of extinction, includes the novels Shards of Earth, Eyes of the Void, and Lords of Uncreation. The graphic novel will also mark the first release from Cosmic Lighthouse, a new venture by Anthony Cronin and celebrated comic and TV writer Paul Cornell. Salvation’s Child is set for a summer 2026 release and will be available digitally through Amazon’s Comixology Originals.
In this exciting exclusive, Comixology Originals and the creators are pulling back the curtain on Salvation’s Child, and we’ve got your first look at the characters who drive it. Legendary artist Mike Collins brings the cast to life with bold, story‑rich designs — each paired with Tchaikovsky’s own character descriptions for a rare creator‑to‑reader snapshot of how this world takes shape. Dive in and meet the faces of Salvation’s Child before anyone else.

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “Xavienne Torino – Xavienne, age 8, is a weird kid, a bit distant and odd, as if attuned to things others can’t sense.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “Marta Torino – Marta, age 30s, mother to Xavienne. Marta is pragmatic, adaptable and touchy.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “Hermes (a Hiver) — His main body is a cupped shell on six legs with a handful of manipulator arms at the low front end. Within the cup, projectors produce the image of a human torso, head and arms – manifesting as a skinny old man with wispy hair and beard. Hermes is overly characterful for an artificial intelligence, simulating mercurial humour and a bit of snark.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “The Parthenon – A society of cloned warrior women. There is variation between them – from time, scars, experience, character and personal affectation, but they are close as sisters. A military society accentuates their uniformity. Their technology and look is advanced, clean, short on detail.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “The Castigar – An alien species who mostly have a wormlike body shape. Much bigger than humans. Their skin is dark grey, with lots of wrinkles, ridges and segment boundaries.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “The Hannilambra (Hanni) – An alien species. They are vaguely crablike in form. Many of them have screens set into their arms and their armoured back, which can display images, adverts and the like. They are often colourful, either naturally or painted. They seem positive and enthusiastic.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “The Hegemonic Cult – Humans who dress in red robes. Their leaders have tall hats like mitres fanned out into a scallop shell. They have a lot of gold ornamentation. They represent the Divine Essiel.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “Tymeree – Six-legged aliens that wear armoured suits so we can’t see what they actually look like. They are shaped a bit like prawns and have several small arms and weapon-like projections jutting from their front end. They often accompany the Hegemonics.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “The ships – A big sleep liner, a boxy multi-sectioned hauler, several small vessels of different designs. Most human ships have projecting stubs – a bit winglike but blunt and ending in pods or spines.”

Adrian Tchaikovsky – “The Architect – Looming, bigger than the moons and still closing on the planet, a great forest of jagged spines, like crystal mountains.”

Our exclusive glimpse into Adrian Tchaikovsky and Mike Collins ’ Salvation’s Child ends here, but after you have read this book, the echoes will no doubt linger. In the hands of Tchaikovsky and Collins, these characters feel less like creations and more like figures pulled from some deeper current — heroes, monsters, and mysteries shaped by forces older than the worlds they inhabit. Collin’s designs hint at destinies already in motion, threads tightening long before we arrive. Huge thanks to Comixology Originals and the creative team for letting us witness the moment the myth begins to breathe. What follows won’t just be a story; it’ll be a legend in the making.
