Sony has declined to comment on the report but Deadline says they have confirmed with two sources that Shriek will indeed be involved. If you are not aware of who Shriek is, she was introduced by Marvel Comics in May 1993 Spider-Man Unlimited #1 edition. Shriek is a villain to Spider-Man and a lover to Cletus Kasady aka Carnage.

A drug dealer named Frances Barrison became the volatile Shriek after severe trauma allow her latent mutant powers to emerge. In the comics, those powers include sonic energy blasts, flight, and the ability to stir up dark and violent emotions in others.

Casting is underway with the field of candidates growing and that filmmakers are looking to cast an unknown.
