Andy Serkis Says Tom Hardy Helped Write the Script for Venom 2

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”27671″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]If there was any doubt as to how dedicated Tom Hardy is to playing Eddie Brock aka Venom, newly appointed director Andy Serkis reveals that Hardy had a big role in writing the script for the sequel. There had been rumors circulating Serkis’ potential new job of directing Sony’s sequel to the successful first Venom, but it was confirmed yesterday. In a new interview, Serkis dove deep into his excitement and where he is in the progress right now:

“I’m right in the beginning stages, so I’ve got some very clear ideas about the journey, [and what] I’d like to see visually, and how we can take the characters into another direction. I’m excited to work with all the great actors who are involved. It’s a fantastic franchise. I’m really honored to have been asked to direct it. And it feels like it’s a very, again, very contemporary story. And it’s I think it’s going to be, hopefully, a story piece of cinema.”

Serkis continued, about Hardy’s involvement with writing the script:

“Tom was very involved with the writing–with [screenwriter] Kelly Marcel–of the new story. So it’s very much centered around their take.”

We don’t know much about the sequel, but a few tidbits were teased at the end of the first movie. We saw Woody Harrelson make a brief appearance as Cletus Kasaday aka Carnage. It’s expected that we’re going to see some epic fights between the two symbiotes. Don’t get too excited thinking this time around the movie may be rated R, Arad explained to Collider:

“You know what? When you hear Venom…forget Venom. When you hear, Carnage, the only thing you can think of is R. But, if you know his story, if you really know the comic, there’s no R here. He’s a tortured soul. It’s not about what he does, because we never have to show the knife going from here to there, and the blood is pouring. What you have to show is, what is the motivation? Was he born like that, or it’s someone we should feel for, because if you are succeeding to make a villain someone you can feel for, jackpot.”

How excited are you that Serkis is directing Venom 2?
