‘Star Trek 4’ Reportedly On The Shelf For Now

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12996″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]With the recent announcement of SJ Clarkson signing on to Executive Produce and direct the pilot episode of the upcoming Game of Thrones Sequel, that doesn’t bode well for what was hoped by Paramount to be the next in the Star Trek Kelvin timeline series. Clarkson had been selected to direct the next Star Trek film and would have been the first woman director in the Star Trek motion picture franchise.

As many may know by now, those film plans were put on hold when negotiations between the studio and Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine fell through. Since then, the project has been in a holding pattern until something could possibly be worked out. With their chosen director now moving on to other projects, such as the Game of Thrones prequel, Deadline is reporting that the project has been shelved. If that is a permanent condition is yet unknown but it appears that the project is dead at this point, at least until the “Chrislock” is overcome and perhaps, a new director is chosen.

This is the worse news Star Trek fans could hear, as they had been hoping that a fresh approach via Clarkson might have energized the film franchise. In the meantime, fans will have to get their Star Trek fix through CBS All Access Star Trek Discovery and perhaps the upcoming Patrick Stewart Picard Star Trek series.

Are you Star Trek fans disappointed that another Trek film seems unlikely at this time? What scenarios do you seethat might break the impasse and resolve the situation? Time to be troubleshooter and solve the problem with us at GVNation.
