[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”32277″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Star Wars is a brand that’s branching out. Fans have a slew of spin-offs to look forward to. Disney Plus launched its streaming platform along with The Mandalorian. The series has turned out to be a major hit and the crew behind the scenes did plenty to keep things secret per Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Disney Plus concluded what was probably the first act of its series. It was directed by Deborah Chow who is slated to helm the Ben Kenobi series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Now there’s a rumor brewing regarding a rather compelling character coming to Disney Plus. The Star Wars franchise is making it their mission to fill in the gaps of the brand. That said, this rumor involves a Doctor Aphra. The Darth Vader comic debuted her character in the Marvel Comics. She was later spun-off into her OWN series of comics that continue to this day. According to reviews online, she’s quite pleasing to the fans. It would appear Doctor Aphra’s dark humor and socio-pathic tendencies is what draws the audience.
Star Wars Unity reported a rumor that Doctor Aphra could be included in the slew of spin-offs for Disney Plus. It is not known whether she’ll get her own series or will just make an appearance in slated shows. The site’s creator, Jeremy Conrad said “that one of those mystery shows might involve Doctor Aphra“. So it’s just a “might” at this point, which just makes it a rumor. But that was the extent of the news, nothing more.
I would say that there is some merit for her to have her own series as Amazon reviewers gave great accolades to the character. A top contributor mentioned how Doctor Aphra is “The Cutest Sociopath In The Galaxy!” and “this crazy chick is a true sociopath. She flat out cannot tell right from wrong. And, like a lot of sociopaths, she can charm the light out of a lightsaber”. So there seems to be a trend in how audiences tend to find sociopathic tendencies compelling in characters. Keen insight into their “raison d’être” or “reason for being” seems rather compelling. Thoughts of a certain Mad Titan come to mind.
