Video Quality
Tales of The Walking Dead comes to Blu-Ray with a pretty great 1080p presentation that represents the series admirably. Colors from the clothing, environments and (yes) blood radiate off the screen in a dynamic manner. No instances of banding or compression artifacts showed up throughout the series. Each episode reveals a new environment replete with finely curated sets and production design which the lovely cinematography realizes with distinct clarity.
From the sunny outdoor scenes to the darker, shadowy sequences, the skin tones and facial details are crisply rendered in a way that reveals so much texture. Black levels are very deep and do not betray the objects on screen. Subtle facial features are readily visible, such as the various cuts and scrapes that the characters collect throughout their journey. Fans should be more than pleased that this series is presented with care in high definition.
Audio Quality
The Blu-Ray disc comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track that is very effective. The series is largely dialogue driven, but there is always a zombie altercation lurking around the corner that kicks this track into gear. Exchanges of dialogue primarily sit in the center channel and are reproduced clearly. The track does a fine job of making sure neither sound effects nor the score ever overpowers this element. The score and other music enhances the mood as it fills up the room with great fidelity. When the action starts up, there is some strength to the low end that complements it well. There is some welcome ambient activity in the rear channels, especially as you hear the sounds of zombie moaning approaching. This track does everything that is asked of it.

Final Thoughts
Tales of The Walking Dead is a series that attempts to shake off the cobwebs of a franchise that refuses to let go of the dreams of its glory days of cultural supremacy. While there are a few installments that come up a bit short, this installment succeeds in feeling at least a bit fresh as the creative team shakes up the format a bit while bringing on some talented performers who may not have wanted to commit to a full series run. At only six episodes, this is a pretty breezy investment that mostly pays off. RLJE Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray set featuring an excellent A/V presentation and nothing in the way of supplemental features. Recommended
