Synopsis

“All the pieces are starting to fit together as the Batman Who Laughs acquires another key element in his plan—one that is linked to the founding fathers of Gotham City and to a legacy started by the Wayne family and protected by none other than Oswald Cobblepot. While the Penguin goes head-to-head with the darkest version of his mortal enemy, Batman is forced to compromise his principles and purge the serum that protects his heart from the deadly Joker Toxin! It’s a no-win situation as writer Scott Snyder and artist Jock return to the sociopath they created in “Black Mirror”: James Gordon Jr.” – DC Comics

Story

Scott Snyder’s work on the Batman who Laughs is probably the best the best story line i’ve read this year! It shows how Batman is starting to lose control second by second and you can tell by the way he is acting in this issue. The desperation and not being able to calmly assess the situation.

The best thing about a story is the questions it give along with some answers and the question that Scott Snyder leaves always leaves me scratching my head thinking what is going to happen at the same time giving us the best possible answers.

Art

Let us start with the variant cover this might be the most sexiest cover I have ever laid my eyes on by Riccardo Federici and the art by Jock is one of the most visually striking art I have ever laid my eyes on. The attention to detail, the horrific style that enhances the story.

I do not normally talk about the coloring or the lettering of the comic book (I should) but David Baron’s colors and Sal Cipriano’s lettering are on point that give the story as people of been putting it a nightmarish feel to the arc.

Overall Thoughts

THIS IS AN INSTANT BUY!!! For just the Variant Cover alone!

The story is getting better and better with every issue that Scott Snyder gives us (It starts off perfect) and the art by Jock, David Baron’s, and Sal Cipriano’s is on another level.
