The Best Jeffrey Dean Morgan Roles (According To GVN)

It’s the great Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s 55th birthday. The American actor has had some iconic roles in his life, both in movies and in TV shows. As a fan of JD Morgan, I decided to whip up a quick article highlighting some of Morgan’s best roles that he’s provided us throughout the years.

Denny Duquette from Grey’s Anatomy

While I may not be the biggest Grey’s Anatomy watcher, I feel that having an article talking about Morgan’s notable roles wouldn’t be complete without talking about Denny Duquette. For many, Grey’s Anatomy was their first introduction to the actor, who appeared in 23 episodes of the long-running show. He stole fans’ hearts while…needing a heart transplant himself.

The Comedian from Watchmen

One of Zack Snyder’s most notable movies, Watchmen stands out in the pool of superhero movies. Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays the wise-cracking, morally corrupt Comedian. Who, let’s admit, wasn’t the best person, but Morgan’s performance as the Comedian is captivating to watch and one of his best roles.

Clay from The Losers

The Losers is a comic book movie from 2010 that does not get enough love. We have Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, and more in this badass, stylistically cool film. Morgan plays Clay, the leader of this ragtag team of misfits. It’s a fun role that I really enjoyed.

Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman

Even though the role only lasted for two seconds, I still put this down because there was no one better cast to play Bruce Wayne’s father than Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Especially if they had wanted to go down the path of Flashpoint Thomas Wayne, where he would have been a darker version of Batman. If only…

John Winchester in Supernatural

Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days. Supernatural started with Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester going to his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) to tell him that their father was missing. Morgan played John Winchester in 13 episodes of the long-running paranormal show. He wasn’t the best father, but he was a complex character who remained a constant throughout the series, even when he wasn’t on screen.

Negan from The Walking Dead

We had to end this article with none other than Negan. Probably Morgan’s most iconic role to date, people were ecstatic when the actor teased he was coming to The Walking Dead. At the time, he couldn’t even reveal who he was playing, but fans knew it would be Negan. Sure enough, Morgan has been practically carrying the show since his introduction. We’ve seen Negan go through a lot since his first scene in TWD and how his story ends remains to be seen.
