The DCEU Has Found Its Supergirl

Growing up I was forced to watch soaps with either my mom or grandmother depending on who I was with. Over the years it became a part of life. Sometimes I watch and sometimes I don’t What gets me excited is when I see great actresses like Sasha Calle break free from the soap world. In the upcoming “The Flash” movie from DC and Warner Bros “The Young and the Restless” star will play Supergirl. Calle will be the first Latina to play Super Calle Supergirl for DC.

The announcement was made by director Andy Muschetti with a video on Instagram. There he told a shocked Calle, “You’re Supergirl.” He captioned the post, “Been doing a lot of flashbacks lately but today is about a Flash forward.”

The Flash” will introduce one of the core concepts to general audiences the idea of the multiverse. For those like me, you may be asking what does that mean? Well, it seems there is a larger number of alternate universes that coexist than we know about in DC comics. This will explain several different version of characters we have seen over the years and all the contradictory changes DC Character have experienced. In addition, it allows us to see several different versions of those same characters simultaneously exist and, hopefully, interact.

The DC multiverse for the last several years has been planting the seeds. It was first introduced was introduced in The CW’s “Arrowverse” franchise, with “Supergirl” and “Black Lightning”. DC clearly established them as being in separate universes from “Arrow,” “Legends of Tomorrow” and “The Flash”.” More recently we have seen,  The CW’s crossovers in “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” and movies such as “Wonder Woman” and “Justice League”. There they were confirmed as part of the Arrowverse multiverse when Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen encountered Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen.

We still don’t how all of this will play out. This certainly can expand the DC’s in future movies or the comics. More so it brings great options for Warner Bros. The possibilities are endless.

The first to play Supergirl in the 1984 Warner Bros. movie was Helen Slater. Another big name who has taken on the Supergirl role is Melissa Benoist. The CW show is in its sixth and final season.

Calle is joining an all-star cast that includes two legendary Batmen. Micheal Keaton will reprise his Batman from the 1989 Tim Burton film. To top that off Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader will also return.  (First exclusively reported by TheWrap)

Good Luck Calle I am rooting for you! I so happy you have broken out of the role of Lola Rosales on “The Young and the Restless”. You were awesome there we all know that from last year’s nomination for Outstanding Young Performer in a Drama Series category at the Daytime Emmys.
