Video Quality
The G makes its Blu-Ray debut with a pleasant 1080p video presentation that showcases the striking cinematography well. The image has a somewhat unsparing quality with a cooler color palette saturating the screen, which not only suits the winter setting but also the tone. The film deploys some complex colors in the production design and the dying expanses of nature, which deliver a haunting image. Black levels exhibit a hint of banding in some of the shadowy moments, but they largely maintain their depth. The flesh tones are natural with impeccable detail present in close-ups, especially in the age lines of these hardened characters. The presentation displays a noble amount of depth even within the claustrophobic apartments. Each environment provides clear, vital textural details. This Blu-Ray is a real winner from the label.
Audio Quality
Dark Sky gives this Blu-Ray a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that skillfully executes all of the sonic demands of the story. The nimble and thoughtful sound design engages with a careful tuning of the surround speakers. Environmental sounds of nature flow through the surround speakers effectively. When the characters are out in the open air, distinct ambient details flesh out the setting. Dialogue always renders crisp and clear without being burdened by any competing sounds. The score is commendably balanced while maintaining its fidelity. Kinetic moments are not the star of the experience, but the titular character knows how to handle herself, lending some nice texture to the proceedings. The audio track provides a well-rounded experience full of personality that brings this narrative to life exactly as needed. Optional English SDH subtitles are provided.

Special Features
- Audio Commentary: Writer/producer/director Karl R. Hearne provides a commentary track in which he discusses the production of the movie, the collaborative nature of the set, working with the performers, the shooting locations, overlooked background details, and more.
- Original Trailer (1:39)
Final Thoughts
The G is an infuriating look at the craven tactics that can be used against the elderly to take advantage of their perceived vulnerability. This topic could be an overly depressing viewing experience, but the film wraps these important themes in familiar revenge genre trappings that make it pulpy, satisfying fun. Although, this endeavor would not work if you didn’t have the incredible Dale Dickey at the core of the film, grounding the more implausible moments in something believable. It is a rock-solid crime drama that will make you want to call your grandparents. Dark Sky has released a Blu-Ray featuring a great A/V presentation and a couple of cool special features. Recommended
The G is currently available to purchase on Standard Edition Blu-Ray or with a Limited Edition Slipcover exclusively through Vinegar Syndrome.

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
