In case you didn’t know how great of a game The Last of Us: Part II was, now you can find out – by seeing it swept the G.A.N.G. Awards recently with 7 straight wins. The Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.) recently announced the full list of winners for multiple categories which encompass music, sound design, dialogue, mixing, and interestingly enough, podcasts. Rachel Robinson and Cody Matthew Johnson co-hosted the virtual event again this year which was broadcasted on Twitch. Pretty much anything you’ll see now could be found on Twitch (E3 I’m looking at you here). TLOU2 took home 7 awards which was followed up by Ghost of Tsushima winning 4 awards, and in third place…literally and figurately was Hades with 3 wins. This is by no means a small victory for Hades so let’s not get that twisted – it deserves every award it gets and major recognition. An honorable mention goes to the composer for Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Gordy Haab for winning the music of the year award for the second year in a row following last year’s award for Star Wars: Squadrons. Simply amazing!

Some of the most titular titles were nominated for these awards, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Cyberpunk 2077. Below is a summary of the awards TLOU2 won, along with Ghost of Tsushima and Hades:

    • Audio of The Year
    • Sound Design of the Year (Tied with Ghost of Tsushima)
    • Dialogue of the Year
    • Best Ensemble Cast Performance
    • Excellence in Audio Accessibility
    • Best Game Audio Article or Publication (what?)
    • Creative and Technical Achievement in Sound Design

    Ghost of Tsushima

    • Sound Design of the Year (Tied with The Last of Us: Part II)
    • Creative and Technical Achievement in Music
    • Best New Original IP Audio
    • Best Game Foley

    Hades

    • Best Sound Design for an Indie Game

Hey! I’m Lais a.k.a. Chipz-N-Stix and I love video games and nerd culture overall. I typically do reviews and impressions on video games as well as offer some helpful tips and tricks to enhance your gaming experience. From time to time I tend to touch on certain topics that get you thinking – things that would matter to the individual. I’m also a self-proclaimed Pokemon Master but that doesn’t mean you can outright challenge me. I have to “motivate” my team for that!
