Everything is going live-action these days it seems. Disney’s Little Mermaid is one of those films and it will start filming in the spring.
A new report today from DisInsider suggests that casting is underway for Ariel’s sisters, Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista and Andrina. Disney is also looking to cast actresses of color for the role.
Another interesting tidbit the site reported but cannot confirm is that Gugu Mbatha-Raw might considered to joint the film as Athena, Ariel’s mother.
A majority of the cast has already been announced including Hailey Bailey as Ariel
British actor Jonah Hauer-King will officially play the iconic Prince Eric.
Melissa McCarthy is set to play the evil villain Ursula.
Other casting notables are Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina.
