The Mandalorian Chapter 14: I Came Here For a Good Time & Feel Attacked Right Now

When Ahsoka Tano told Din Djarin to take Baby Yoda (“Grogu”) to Tython, I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. But, Chapter 14 starts with Mando taking Grogu to the Jedi Temple. I want to start by saying that I loved the beginning of this episode. It was a happy, wholesome scene that now feels bittersweet considering how the ending lived up to the title of the episode – ‘The Tragedy’.

Slight Spoilers

On top of some pretty wholesome moments between Mando and Baby Yoda, we also see some familiar faces. Ming-Na Wen returns as Fennec. With her, is the man that every Star Wars fan knows – Boba Fett. While many (including myself) believed that Din running in with Boba Fett would have meant a life or death battle (and that running into Fennec again would be deadly), it was quite the opposite. Which, is why I love The Mandalorian. It constantly exceeds expectations. While many probably thought this would be a rivalry to end all, the three end up teaming up together. It might be one of my favorite team-ups with Din.

There are bigger things at stake. I don’t want to spoil too much as the episode just came out, but I was shocked by this episode. I think we’re so used to The Mandalorian wrapping up conflict at the end of each episode that a foreboding conclusion that left us hanging was jarring. My anxiety was through the roof, my jaw was hung, and I found myself inwardly going “no, no, no” at the end.

Rating: 4.5/5

Few key points: Moff Gideon is possibly one of the best villains in the Star Wars universe. Giancarlo Esposito is truly a force to be reckoned with. I also need to mention that I absolutely loved Boba Fett’s fighting style – it was brutal and calculated. Temuera Morrison did a really great job as the famed bounty hunter. Fennec also was just cool as ever – I think in a tiny way Fennec and Boba outshined Mando this episode. It’s not a bad thing; Mando likes to be the lone wolf, but he’s better with friends. And he’s going to have bring a lot together to take down Moff Gideon.

I can’t wait for the next episode. Robert Rodriguez really did a great job this episode and joins so many other fantastic directors who’ve brought perfection to The Mandalorian.
