Book cover for "The Undertaker" by Ralph Meyer, Caroline Delabie, and Xavier Dorison, featuring a silhouette of a man with a vulture on his shoulder.

There are westerns… and then there’s The Undertaker—a brutal, beautifully rendered saga that drags the American frontier out of myth and into something far more human, haunting, and irresistibly alive. Today, GVN Talking Comics is thrilled to partner with Abram ComicArts to unveil an exclusive first look at pages from THE UNDERTAKER, Volume One: The Gold Eater and Dance of the Vultures, the opening chapters of the internationally acclaimed series by writer Xavier Dorison and artist Ralph Meyer.

    The Western Genre Endures

This is the kind of comic that reminds you why the Western genre endures and why I love it so. Dorison crafts a story steeped in greed, guilt, and the ghosts a man carries with him. This is complemented by Meyer’s artwork, which delivers the grit, grandeur, and cinematic punch of a widescreen frontier epic. Together, they introduce readers to Jonas Crow, an undertaker with a past he’d rather bury—until the dead refuse to stay quiet and the living refuse to let him walk away.

    Exclusive Page Reveals

We’re excited to share a first look at some of its breathtaking pages. Saddle up, comic lovers—your journey into The Undertaker starts here.

A silhouetted figure in a hat and coat holds a vulture on their arm against an orange background. The text reads: “The Undertaker” with authors’ names and volume title below.

A group of people in a dimly lit underground cave listen to a man with a lantern as he interrogates them, while a body lies in the foreground and a wooden bridge hangs above.

A rope bridge snaps as people cross; gunfire erupts between opposite cliffs amid chaos, with characters shouting and taking cover under dark, stormy skies. A tense shootout unfolds on a rickety bridge at night as several armed men exchange gunfire, strategize, and urgently count their remaining bullets. A group of armed men fight on a rope bridge at night; gunshots are fired, and one man punches another, knocking him off balance. A group of armed men cross a rope bridge in a dark cave; one man is shot after refusing to surrender his gun, while others proceed cautiously with a lantern.“THE UNDERTAKER, Volume One” is set to hit the shelves on March 31st through Abram ComicArts. Just looking through its pages, it’s evident why Xavier Dorison and Ralph Meyer’s western epic has gained recognition abroad. Rest assured, the above pages provide only a glimpse of the grit, grandeur, and moral complexities that lie within.

Keep your eyes peeled—Jonas Crow’s story is just getting started, and the frontier has plenty more secrets to unearth.
