Thor Almost Didn’t Go to Nidavellir for his Stormbreaker

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1790″ img_size=”640×354″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded”][vc_column_text]One of the best storylines in Avengers: Infinity War was Thor’s adventure with Rocket and Groot to Nidavellir to forge a new weapon for the King of Asgard. There, they meet Eitri, portrayed by Peter Dinklage. Watching Thor literally take the blast of a star and Groot heroically offering part of his arm to make up the handle of Stormbreaker made for some of the best screen time in Infinity War. Surprisingly, though; this wasn’t the only plotline that the Russo brothers mulled around with.

According to Joe Russo, there was a possibility of Thor venturing to find his grandfather for a weapon worthy enough to defeat the Mad Titan Thanos.

“We explored a lot of different ideas of where Thor could go for that weapon. We even had versions of the story at one time where he was going to visit this sort of ghost of his dead grandfather – which was one version we were playing with that we didn’t end up using. I am happy where we had settled.”

As interesting as it would have been to perhaps see Thor venture to a version of Valhalla and kept more in touch with his ancestors, I’m ultimately happy with the direction they went in. Seeing the outpour of positivity from fans and gauging the reaction in the theater when I went to see Infinity War (three times), I’d say we all enjoyed watching this epic scene.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
