During the SDCC Marvel panel in Hall H, the title for the next installment was revealed. Thor: Love and Thunder will be the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok. Taika Waititi will return to direct, as well as Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Natalie Portman!
We’re more than excited that Thor is getting a fourth film. Especially after the success of Ragnarok. But, we did last see Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Thor’s involvement with the Guardians were some of the best moments in Infinity War and Endgame. If Hemsworth wasn’t coming back for a solo film, we’d have liked to at least see him in Guardians 3. With Love and Thunder hitting theaters in 2021, we are wondering how the events play out according to the MCU timeless.
On Instagram, James Gunn confirmed that Love and Thunder would take place before Guardians 3.

Love and Thunder is coming out before Guardians 3. James Gunn will return for the third installment of this MCU franchise, but he has DC’s The Suicide Squad to finish up first. This does raise the question, how does Thor depart the Guardians (as we last saw them together in Endgame) and reunite with Valkyrie and Jane Foster? All questions will be answered in due time, but we are an impatient bunch!
