Who is Cobb Vanth? Well thanks to a new scoop from Slashfilm, he is who Timothy Olyphant will be playing. Slashfilm reports that Cobb Vanth is a self appointed sheriff to a town called Freetown in Tatooine. Vanth will also be wearing the Mandalorian armor once worn by the bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Vanth comes into contact with the suit after meeting some Jawas who scavenged the armor from the wreckage left after the battle on Jabba the Hutt’s sail barge. Slashfilm says it is assumed the armor Vanth acquires is Boba Fetts.
Vanth was once a slave who now sports a star shaped scar on his back. Cobb is now devoted to protecting Freetown and its inhabitants. It should be noted these details come from the Aftermath book series and Slashfilm says they are not sure what part Cobb Vanth will play in season two of The Mandalorian. It has been confirmed that Temuera Morrison is returning the franchise to play Boba Fett in season 2 so all of this news is really a head scratcher. How did Cobb get the armor? Is Boba Fett coming for his suit?
These are questions we need answered and I guess we will find out when season 2 arrives on Disney+ later this year.
