In the explosive third season, Jason Todd’s journey as Robin comes to a gruesome end only for him to return to Gotham as Red Hood with a vengeance to take down his old team. Meanwhile, Barbara Gordon, the former Batgirl and current acting Commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department, is wary of the Titans now being back in Gotham, but her history with Dick Grayson leads her to accept their help in the GCPD’s investigation of Red Hood. Also assisting the investigation is Dr. Jonathan Crane, a one time Super-Villain and current inmate at Arkham Asylum.

Video Quality
Titans: The Complete Third Season arrives on Blu-Ray with a lovely AVC encoded 1080p transfer in its original aspect ratio of 2.00:1. The cinematography of DC shows has only gotten more impressive over the past handful of years, and this series provides a cinematic quality that elevates the viewing experience. The color palette runs on the moody, cooler side with a focus on blues, but there are some instances of sumptuous colors popping off the screen. Black levels are nice and deep which allows for an excellent amount of detail in shadows.
Skin tones appear natural across the entire cast throughout the season. The special effects continue to be first rate and are perfectly rendered here. The detail in this presentation is quite striking, as all of the minute details in the production design are easily distinguishable. There are no unsightly instances of aliasing or compression artifacts detectable in this transfer. The Blu-Ray presentation is a really enjoyable experience for fans of this carefully crafted series.
Audio Quality
This Blu-Ray comes with an effective DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that opens up a fully fleshed-out world. One of the underrated aspects of this series is the complementary music from Kevin Kiner. His work perfectly sets the tone for the story, and it creates a nicely enveloping sound that draws you further into the show. Dialogue always comes through perfectly clear without being stepped on by the score or any sound effects. Action sequences and more bombastic moments are given the appropriate weight in the mix with a formidable showing in the low end. Ambient sounds are precisely placed in the rear channels. The spatial awareness of the track is impressive, and the panning techniques are implemented with purpose. The audio presentation will not let you down. There are English SDH subtitles provided.

Final Thoughts
The third season of Titans finds the show really delving into some interesting storylines that allow the characters to reveal new layers. The move to Gotham this season shakes up the core group, but some of the inherent deficits still pop up such as pacing and equal care for all character development. This is the strongest season to date, and we can only hope the show can get closer to firing on all cylinders as it continues. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released a new Blu-Ray with a terrific A/V presentation and a decent array of fun special features. If you have enjoyed the show up until this point, this season will definitely satisfy. Recommended
