No sequel. But, when you are the first R-Rated movie to cross a billion dollars, things change. It’s now been announced that not only will Todd Phillips be back for a sequel, but has obtained the rights to at least one other DC story for an origin story. Who the other DC character is that will get the origin story treatment, we don’t know, but Phillips has seen success and he is trucking along.
Joaquin Phoenix is expected to return as the title character. Not only did this movie make a ton of money, but there is also Oscar buzz surrounding the performance. Something like that does not usually stop at just one; and with Phillips and Joaquin back at it, perhaps we could continue this story in a believable way. Don’t expect Phillips, though; to explore a Batman origin story, since Matt Reeves is doing his own Batman film. Who could we have an origin story for? You let us know!
