Top Gun Director Is Putting Finishing Touches On Film As If It Were Releasing As Scheduled

There isn’t a day that passes that fans aren’t reminded. Because everywhere they look, there are the signs that the productions on many of their most anticipated films have been put on hold. And while this is disappointing, probably more so for the studios than the fans, there are still things to accomplish. This includes on the highly anticipated Tom Cruise Top Gun sequel. Recently, Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski spoke to ComicBook.com about the delay.

We’re sticking to our schedule and finishing the movie just as if it were coming out on its original release date [6/26/20]. Luckily, I’m in the home stretch of post-production where, despite all the restrictions of how you can work now. I’m able to continue doing my job and finish the movie, which is pretty amazing. If I were in any other phase of the project, it would be hard to do that. But because I’m in the tail-end of post, I’m able to do everything I need to to be able to to finish it.

Of course, the advantage to doing this is, with a now scheduled December release, it gives them time to address any issues they might run into as they finish the film. And while you wouldn’t wish for any complications to arise, it’s nice to have a time cushion to reconcile them. Are you excited for the next chapter in the Top Gun story? Does it matter that it was pushed back to December? Share your evaluations of the Maverick proceedings with us at Geek Vibes Nation.
