‘Top Gun: Maverick’ New Set Photos

Although Top Gun: Maverick has been pushed back until 2020, that doesn’t mean that preparation hasn’t already started. According to Revenge of the Fans , the reasoning behind the pushback was so that the actors could get real-life flying experience. We all know Tom Cruise likes to his own stunts, so this could be good for an actor like him to really soak in as much practice as possible. Actors doing their own flying or at least gaining practice to get into their characters is really method and it already is gearing up to be an enjoyable movie.

Val Kilmer will be reprising his role in the film; Miles Teller will play Goose’s son, Glen Powell will be playing a different role than the one he was originally meant to play, Jennifer Connelly will be a love interest for Tom Cruise, and Ed Harris and Jon Hamm have been brought into the mix. The director behind Maverick is Joseph Kosinki, who worked with Cruise during 2013’s Oblivion.

The rumor is that the movie will revolve around fighter pilots who struggle to find their place in the world when their profession is being replaced by drones. It’s good to see the writers looking to tackle a modern day issue and it’ll be interesting to see it played out on screen, if this is the case.

Top Gun: Maverick hits theaters June 26, 2020.
