Updates on the Chucky TV Series Reveals It’s a Continuation of Original Films

I’m not sure how well the recent Chucky reboot film did, but that doesn’t mean we’re not getting more Chucky. In case you forgot, there’s a Child’s Play TV show being developed by SYFY and USA. Don Mancini is returning to bring Chucky back to the small screen. Mancini was the screenwriter behind the original horror film.

In a recent report, producer Nick Antosca has praised the upcoming show for being “scary, funny, and smart”.

“Don wrote an awesome show. He’s showrunning it, and he had a great writer’s room. I’m cautious about talking details, but we’re working on it every day. As a Chucky fan, I’ll just say I’m over the moon that Brad Dourif is back as Chucky, as well as some other familiar characters, and that I think fans are going to love where Don is taking it, and new audiences as well. It’s scary, it’s really funny, and it’s very smart. Nobody knows Chucky better than he does, and he’s pushing the boundaries yet again. I can’t wait for everyone to see it next year.”

Brad Dourif will return to play Chucky. Besides last year’s reboot, where the doll was voiced by Mark Hamill; Dourif has played Chucky in every iteration. Apparently, the series will take place in the same continuity as the original films. It will also ignore the reboot completely.

Chucky will pick up after the doll shows up at a suburban home yard sale. Everything in this seemingly normal town will turn into chaos, because well – that’s Chucky. Enemies and allies alike will come up to threaten Chucky’s misdoings. The show will also explore the untold origins of Chucky as a “seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster”.
