Wait..What?! Could Benedict Cumberbatch Be Joining James Gunn’s ‘THE SUICIDE SQUAD’?

James Gunn will be bringing us The Suicide Squad and I for one and pretty happy about that. But, before his deal with DC, James Gunn was primarily known for his work at Marvel. And now, after Disney has rehired him; he’ll be working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But, not before the Suicide Squad. There were rumors that fellow Marvel buddy Dave Bautista would have been in Gunn’s rendition of The Suicide Squad, but due to scheduling that wasn’t possible. But, will another Avenger be involved?

This is heavy speculating, so take with a grain of salt. Scott Derrickson, director of Doctor Strange; had some fun on Twitter. When Gunn stated that Thor would not be in The Suicide Squad, Derrickson was quote as calling Gunn a “traitor”. To which, Gunn responded:

Now, Gunn and Derrickson could just be having some fun here. Gunn could be playing on the fact that he is involved with both DC and Marvel and tease about crossovers that won’t happen. But, imagine if Benedict Cumberbatch does step up to have some sort of role in The Suicide Squad? Who would he play? David Harbour played a small role in the 2016 Suicide Squad and now will be in Marvel’s upcoming Black Widow movie. So, will we also see a crossover with Cumberbatch? Production on The Suicide Squad is reported for September and production on Doctor Strange 2 is reported for January 2020. So it is possible Benedict could film all of his scenes in that amount of time and still make the shoot for Doctor Strange 2.
