In an exclusive announcement, Deadline shares how Michael Peña will be joining the cast of Warner Bros.’ new live-action remake of the classic cartoons, Tom & Jerry. Peña will be starring alongside Chloe Grace Moretz who plays the lead role of Kate, a new employee at an elegant Park Hotel where the mischievous mouse, Jerry, is currently living at. Worried for her job and what people might think of the “rodent-infested” hotel, Kate hires a broke alley cat, Tom, to get rid of the mouse.
According to the article, “Peña’s character, Terrance, is the deputy general manager of the hotel. A bit of bully, he hires Kayla as a temporary hire only to end up pitted against her and Tom/ Jerry once she starts impressing upper management.”
Tim Story will be directing the film and it will be interesting to see his modern take on the popular slapstick cat-and-mouse antics of Tom & Jerry which have been around since 1940 when they were introduced by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.
Tom & Jerry arrives in theaters April 16, 2021.
