Entertainment’s chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara is officially stepping down from a position that he has held since 2013. This is coming from text messages that were exchanged between Tsujihara and actress Charlotte Kirk that exposed the executive’s intention of pushing auditions for Kirk due to a sexual relationship between the two. While the actress has been in two movies under the studio’s name, Tsujihara’s attorney stated that:
“Mr. Tsujihara had no direct role in the hiring of this actress.”
WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey has not announced a replacement for Tsujihara, but commented:
“It is in the best interest of WarnerMedia, Warner Bros., our employees and our partners for Kevin to step down as Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Kevin has contributed greatly to the studio’s success over the past 25 years and for that we thank him. Kevin acknowledges that his mistakes are inconsistent with the Company’s leadership expectations and could impact the Company’s ability to execute going forward.”
Tsujihara is the first executive of Asian descent to be in charge of a major Hollywood studio and under him we’ve seen the DCEU go through some changes, but forming all the same. The exec is credited with courting J.K. Rowling for her Fantastic Beasts movies, which are spinoffs from her wildly successful Harry Potter films. It was during his time that to Brett Ratner’s RatPac-Dune Entertainment to help finance some films, but broke off this engagement due to the sexual allegations against Ratner.
