Westworld’s Thandie Newton Wins Emmy For Best Supporting Actress

It looks like Maeve really is the leader of her own destiny. HBO’s Westworld has a slew of talented actors and most were nominated for an Emmy, but it was Thandie Newton who won for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Since season one, Maeve has been one of the most interesting characters and we followed her journey from discovering her existence in season one, to her searching for her daughter in season two. Maeve’s journey has always been one of strength, understanding, and nurturing.

At the 2018 Emmy’s, Thandie accepted her award and gave an emotional speech. My favorite line of the whole speech, as I’m sure it was everyone’s as well;

“I don’t believe in God, but I’m going to thank her tonight.”

A queen. Absolute queen. Newton has also been in such recent projects as Solo: A Star Wars Story, but we know her best as the epitome of a strong woman. Season two saw Maeve discover even more of her powers and Dr. Ford (Sir Anthony Hopkins) admitted that Maeve was the closest he’d ever have to a daughter. You can catch her on the previous two seasons of Westworld and we know that her story is not yet over. Congratulations, Thandie!
