Zack Snyder Shares New Details About Why He Left ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ Back In 2017

There are no surprises left when it comes to the shit show that was 2017’s Justice League, or is there? From stories of WB tampering with Zack Snyder’s film, to the tragic loss of his daughter and leaving to spend time with his family, to Joss Whedon and the abuse the cast suffered. Ray Fisher is still in an ongoing battle with WB over the way he and others were treated during filming, Ben Affleck has spoke out about how terrible filming the movie was as well. Fans went on an over three year campaign to see Zack Snyder’s vision brought to the big screen and in 2020 those prayers were answered when HBO Max announced the Directors Cut of Justice League would finally see the light of day.

Now Cinemablend’s Sean O’Connell has a new book coming out in March called Release the Snyder Cut and in it Sean talks extensively to Zack Snyder about just what all went on behind the scenes.  Here is a snippet of what Zack Snyder had to say on why he left production

I just was kind of done with it. I was in this place of [knowing] my family needs me more than this bullshit, and I just need to honor them and do the best I can to heal that world. I had no energy to fight [the studio], and fight for [the movie]. Literally, zero energy for that. I really think that’s the main thing. I think there’s a different world where I stayed and kind of tried. And I’m sure I could have . . . because every movie is a fight, right? I was used to that. But I just did not have the [energy]. There was no fight in me. I had been beaten by what was going on in my life and I just didn’t want to, I didn’t care to . . . that was kind of where I was.

WB has a reputation of meddling with a directors vision. Patty Jenkins has spoken out about this and David Ayer has spoken out about it when it comes to his vision of Suicide Squad.  I have no idea if this only pertains to DC films but there is clearly a pattern of tampering on the studios part and Zack Snyder had seen enough.

There is for sure going to be a whole lot more to story in the book which you can pre-order here.

What do you think about Zack’s comments? Zack Snyder’s Justice League does not have a release date yet but is set for some time in March.
