American Gods Star Admits To Being “Scared” Ahead of Season Two

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Despite some news reports wanting to stir up controversy by stating that season two of American Gods was in shambles, the second season is happening. An official trailer was released at NYCC and it looks amazing. Still, things were a little up in the air for the STARZ show, which is based off the novel by Neil Gaiman. With some of its cast leaving along with the producers and showrunners, it’s understandable that some of the cast even would be a little concerned about the future of the series. One such person was Emily Browning, who plays Laura Moon in the show; main character Shadow Moon’s undead wife who is currently traveling around with the leprechaun Mad Sweeney.

Browning admitted to being scared about showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green leaving:

“If you had spoken to me about it a few months ago, I would have been in a very different place with it,” Emily, who plays Laura Moon, told TV Guide.

“I think we were all nervous at the beginning. Just being totally honest, we all loved Michael and Bryan, and it was their vision, and losing them was terrifying.”

Browning then went on to say about Chris Byrne:

“Chris Byrne was our second unit director last season and is now a producing director and is the f***ing hero of American Gods. The way that the show looks was always him, and it’s still him.”

Despite star Gillian Anderson leaving and new showrunner Jesse Alexander dropping out, Gaiman has more of a prominent role in the second season and considering he created this world, I think that’s a pretty good thing to happen.

“The plan going in was to make five seasons, and it seems to be actually running according to plan, currently.”

Gaiman added: “Lakeside was going to be season 3, and that’s where we’ll be going in season 3. Meanwhile, Cairo, Illinois and the House On The Rock are in season 2. We wanted to go there this season and that’s exactly what we did. So that’s the current plan.”

“The tale can grow in the telling, and there are more characters and more things to be done. There are also stories that were written that weren’t just in the novel.

“There’s ‘The Monarch of the Glen’, ‘Black Dog’, the others that came after that. There’s also a whole other novel as well, so it may keep going.”

The more seasons of American Gods, the better; I say. American Gods return in 2019 – make sure you catch up now![/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/8EJEa9aW5PQ” el_width=”90″ align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
