When you’re the Emperor in the Star Wars Universe, or at least you used to be before some asthmatic guy in a black helmet tossed you into the abyss, you apparently retain your powers of clairvoyance. $274.7 million dollars. That appears to be the magic number to get a sequel made. At least where Tomb Raider is concerned. The original 2001 Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie made $274.7 million dollars in box office receipts. That inspired a 2003 sequel that did much worse, taking in only $156.5 million. I’m not sure how many more exciting premiers can be crammed into a couple of months but between Game of Thrones, Avengers: End Game, and Marvel’s Agents of Shield, the folks at HBO, Marvel Studios, and ABC/Marvel Television are certainly trying.
