We are currently three weeks and four episodes into Marvel’s first Disney+ series ‘WandaVision‘ and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. With particular praise going to Elizabeth Olsen’s performance as the Sokovian test subject turned Avenger, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. The show has given Marvel’s phase four and influx of creativity and a willingness to take risks in narratives. And nobody has benefitted more from this punch of imagination than Elizabeth Olsen herself.
Recently the actress appeared on the ‘Still Watching’ podcast for Vanity Fair and had this to say:
“It just became something that I absolutely adored and loved, and because of this show, it made me love this character more than I ever had. And it makes me feel like I have such a new ownership of her because of the time I got to spend creating this show. And now, I’m excited for the next thing… I just signed on because I liked the character, because of the comics, and I thought the Age of Ultron story was really powerful and fun, angsty and rebellious, and really an honorable story to tell. Now, it’s this completely new thing that it never was at the beginning. The transition from WandaVision to Doctor Strange 2, I just feel like it’s all so earned.”
WandaVision has already seen 4 highly popular episodes released and has 5 more to come, each episode has sparked intense discussion and theorizing from fans and bloggers alike and it shows no signs of slowing down. As for the continuation of the character after the series we do know that she will be starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ which is currently filming and set to release on March 25 2022. It is unknown if she will appear in the upcoming ‘Spiderman 3’ as well but we do know that WandaVision, Doctor Strange 2, and Spider-Man 3 are all tightly connected due to their dealings with the MCU’s multiverse.
How much are you enjoying WandaVision and are you excited to see where Wanda’s story goes afterwards?
