Pop the champagne because Warner Archive is celebrating its 17th anniversary. On March 23rd, 2009, Warner Bros and AV Entertainment worked together to launch 150 classic titles never before available on DVD. By shifting to a model that required less physical product wasting away on store shelves, Warner Archive was able to take a chance on titles that catered more directly to true fans of film and television. When the label transitioned to releasing Blu-Ray discs in 2012, it cemented its place as one of the most essential labels in the home entertainment game.
Ask anyone who collects physical media, and they will tell you that Warner Archive is perhaps the most consistent label when it comes to releasing quality transfers. Other labels may produce more glitzy packages with more special features, but pound for pound their Blu-Ray discs are the best in terms of baseline restoration efforts that remain true to the source, first-rate encoding, and original audio. From Oscar winners like The Broadway Melody and The Great Ziegfeld to modern novelties such as Just Friends and Rover Dangerfield, every title is treated like the most important title in the world with the proper level of care.
Today, the collection totals nearly 4,000 titles including Blu-ray, 4K, TV box sets as well as DVDs – and more are on the way. This landmark anniversary is being celebrated with a ‘4 for $54‘ promotion on over 650 Warner Blu-ray titles thanks to the good folks at MovieZyng. Add additional titles for just $13.50 each! Enter code ARCHIVE17 at checkout. The sale is currently running and will end on March 31st, so be sure to act fast. You can check out the full slate of titles available during the sale here.
