HBO Is Looking To Resurrect 2000s Funeral Home Drama ‘Six Feet Under’

HBO is breathing new life into its 2000s funeral home drama, Six Feet Under. Variety confirmed back in December that the series, which aired its finale in 2005, is in early talks to receive a reboot at the network. Series creator Alan Ball, as well as executive producers, Bob Greenblatt and David Janollari, will return to the project

The critically acclaimed series tackled the issues of mortality and grief through the eyes of the Fisher family. After the series opens with the family patriarch dying in a car accident, his widow and their adult children do their best to move forward with their lives and face down their own mortality and grief daily while operating the family’s successful funeral home.

The show starred Peter Krause, Rachel Griffins, Freddy Rodriguez, Matthew St. Patrick, Lauren Ambrose, Francis Conroy, Richard Jenkins, and Michael C. Hall. Hall went on to star in the hit Showtime series, Dexter, in which he portrayed the serial killer with morals, Dexter Morgan. Dexter recently concluded its own revival series.

Both HBO and Alan Ball have declined to comment on the status of the project at this time. All  that’s known is that the project is in very early development.
