One of the most talked about potential castings is Josh Gad as The Penguin. This is due in part to the fact that Gad has been teasing the role for quite some time now, he even tweeted out that he could take Robert Pattison in a fight as Batman.
Now this isn’t the first time an actor has campaigned for a role or even had fun with fans making us think they are going to be cast for a role. But it seems that Gad actually might be playing The Penguin if the report from World of Wonder, via the BYO Podcast Show, is correct. According to WoW, the BYO Show correctly predicted back in January that Robert Pattinson would be playing Batman. (Warner Bros has actually not confirmed he is Batman at this time)
BYO says Josh Gad will play the Penguin and Vanessa Hudgens will be cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. The script details say there will be multiple and according to BYO the villains don’t stop with Gad and Hudgens. They also are saying Theo Rossi will be playing the man who broke the Bat, Bane.
Earlier reports say WB is interested in Richard Grant playing Alfred and BYO backs that up. They also report that Jason Clarke, who played a role in Matt Reeves Planet of the Apes, will be playing Thomas Wayne and Martha will be played Keri Russell.
I am not sure how accurate this reporting is but I’d take it all with a grain of salt until verified. I can’t see Reeves using Bane so soon and pass on using Riddler or another villain. I think we have seen the Thomas/Martha death scene enough but I do like Jason and Keri, so I’m thrilled to see what their role will be in this film.
What do you make of all these rumors? Are you excited to see Gad as Penguin or would you cast someone else? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
