Netflix’s Altered Carbon Will Get an Anime Movie

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”528″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Altered Carbon is a Netflix series based off a book written by Richard Morgan and starred Joel Kinnaman as Takeshi Kovacs. After a successful first season, the show was renewed and announced that Anthony Mackie would replace Kinnaman as Kovacs’s new sleeve. The excitement for Altered Carbon fans doesn’t end there, as Netflix has announced that on top of a Pacific Rim anime, an Altered Carbon anime is in the works for the streaming service.

Dai Sato and Tsukasa Kondo will be writing the anime; for those not familiar with Sato, he is the creator behind Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer; stated below:

“Asia is home to the world’s great creative centers producing some of the most compelling films and series of today. The beauty of Netflix is that we can take never-seen-before stories from South Korea, Thailand, Japan, India, Taiwan or elsewhere, and easily connect them to people all over Asia and the world. More than half of Asian content hours viewed on Netflix this year are viewed outside the region, so we have confidence that our upcoming slate of Asian productions will find fans in their home countries and abroad.”

Altered Carbon’s anime movie will focus more on the franchise’s mythology and considering how beautiful the live-action series was, I can’t wait to see how the universe is brought together in anime form. A release date has not yet been set, but as we learn more, we will let you know![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
