With word coming down earlier this week that Henry Cavill has been cast in Netflix’s The Witcher series it seems we finally have some production news. According to this weeks listing of Production Weekly, the series looks to begin filming on October 18. So far Henry is the only one cast but with the shooting date fast approaching we should be hearing more casting announcements in the weeks ahead. Omega Underground has reported that filming will take place in Budapest and the series will have Game of Thrones director Alik Sakharov behind the camera for four out of the eight episodes.

This series is one of fans most anticipated but it should be mentioned this is not based on the popular video game series but rather the books from which the game was adapted from. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich commented on Henry being cast saying
He was my first meeting. I didn’t have writers or scripts yet – just a greenlight and a lot of passion. That was four months ago, and I’ve never forgotten the passion he brought. He IS Geralt. He always has been. I’m so thrilled to welcome HENRY CAVILL to the #Witcher family.
How do you feel about this latest production news? Are you excited for the show to get going? I cannot wait to see the first image of Henry as Geralt!
There is no release date for The Witcher at this time.
