New Reports Indicate Disney Might Use James Gunn Script, Possibly Re-Hire

Like sands in an hour glass so are the days of James Gunn’s life! The ongoing soap opera that is James Gunn has taken another turn today. Earlier a huge RUMOR came out that Disney was scrapping his Guardians 3 script, Dave Batista said he would ask for his release if that happened, and now The Hollywood Reporter is saying Disney might use the script. In an ongoing battle of he is not coming back (Variety) to he might come back (THR) we really have no solid ground to stand on until Disney themselves make another announcement. About two weeks ago Disney in fact announced that Gunn was being let go for comments he made on Twitter years ago. This sparked outrage with fans, cast members and even some of Gunn’s closest friends.

THR today is reporting that Gunn has been approached by several rival studios who ae trying to court him with big time projects. According to THR one executive told them “I’d work with him in a heartbeat,” another mentioned “I’ve been advised that we can’t bring anything to him until the Disney matter is 100 percent resolved,”. THR is reporting Warner Bros is very interested in Gunn for its DC Entertainment movies, no doubt Green Lantern Corps would for sure be something that might draw Gunn’s attention. Our source told us Josh Trank is high on WB’s list for GLC but a big time director like Gunn might change that.

Reports also indicate that Disney and Gunn are locked in contract settlements, it might be cheaper for Disney to keep Gunn rather than fire him perhaps. Also mentioned was that there are still hopes that Gunn and Disney might be able to work this out and either come back to direct Guardians 3 or another Marvel film. Right now it seems that no one other than Disney and James Gunn know for sure what is to come of this. How do you feel about this ongoing James Gunn Saga? Are you over it? Leave us a comment below.
