[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One of the most well-known stories in Batman comic history is The Killing Joke. Written by Alan Moore, The Killing Joke provides an origin story for the Joker, probably the most mysterious of the caped crusader’s rogue gallery, and is arguably the most well-known villain out of every villain in both the DC and Marvel universe. On top of exploring what drop the Joker to be the man we know him as today, it also saw the transformation of Batgirl into Oracle. Batgirl took up the name of Oracle once she was paralyzed from being shot.

The first page of The Killing Joke sold for $120,000. Insert gasping emoji face here. I wish I had that much money. As the first page, it laid down the groundwork for the rest of the story and even though Brian Bolland has auctioned off other pages in the past, this is a hefty price. The Killing Joke has since been adapted into an animated film by Bruce Timm. Joaquin Phoenix is starring in an origin Joker film, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be using The Killing Joke as reference, i.e. cocaine powder on his face is the reason he’s driven insane.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeNi4PfNMqI” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
