We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in home entertainment week in and week out. For the week of July 25th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get the full rundown of what you should have on your wishlist, plus take a chance to check out what Michael and I are spotlighting on The Video Attic this week.
This weeks finds the arrival of one of the biggest releases of the year as Disney and Marvel welcome the trippy sequel Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness to 4K UHD Blu-Ray. This release comes with HDR and Dolby Atmos audio along with fun special features including an audio commentary, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more. If you need more superhero content, Warner Bros. and DC are releasing the latest in their impressive DC animation line with Green Lantern: Beware My Power on 4K UHD Blu-Ray. This tale finds Aldis Hodge (Black Adam, The Invisible Man) taking on the titular role of John Stewart.
Elsewhere in the land of star-studded adventures, we have the comedic journey The Lost City starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum hitting 4K UHD Blu-Ray courtesy of Paramount. This film had quite a strong run at the box office earlier this year, proving that audiences are still eager for some light and funny escapism even if it is not based on established IP. This new disc comes in dazzling Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio along with a nice array of supplemental features.
In the land of the Kino Studio Classics, we have two eagerly anticipated titles making their 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut. First off, we have Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet’s unforgettable Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind debuting on 4K UHD with Dolby Vision and a new interview along with other supplements. We also have the classic Stanley Kubrick noir The Killing debuting on the format with a 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision. Be sure to check out our thoughts on this one in The Video Attic below.
If you are looking for older favorites getting the respect they deserve on 4K UHD, look no further than the new Collector’s Edition release of the sci-fi horror tale Species. Join Scream Factory as they present this Natasha Henstridge flick with a new 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative and a host of great special features to give fans the most dazzling release yet.
This is only a taste of the incredibly packed lineup you have to look forward to you this week. Be sure to check out the full list below after checking out The Video Attic where we discuss the classic Quentin Tarantino-penned True Romance on 4K UHD, the classic anime series Nadia: The Secret Of The Blue Water newly restored on Blu-Ray, deep cuts from Mario Bava and Tobe Hooper, new releases from Mill Creek, Music Box Films, Kino Classics and more.
