That’s right ladies and gentlemen. Jim Carrey’s classic pompadoured pet detective may be making a bit of a comeback if rumors hold true.
Allegedly X-Men star Evan Peters is being eyed as the film’s lead, but not as Ace. No, no, no. Peters would star as Ace’s son.
Peters’ star is undoubtedly on the rise, especially after his recent appearance in WandaVision. While not known for being quite as cartoonish as his predecessor; he is undoubtedly familiar with comedy. I have no doubts that, if it actually happens, he’ll have no trouble.
If the premise of Ace Ventura’s son sounds a bit familiar, it should. Back in 2009 there was a quick, kiddie, made-for-tv movie by the name of Ace Ventura Jr. The film followed Ace’s kid son as he steps into his father’s shoes to try and save his mom. S&@! was absolutely ridiculous.
I don’t usually go out of my way to bash movies, but whoever thought that was a good idea should be drawn and quartered.
This time around studios appear to be putting their best foot forward. Casting an actor that isn’t too young to watch the 1994 original (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective) or its sequel (Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls) is probably a good idea.
Finger are crossed. Breath is bated. Hopes are high. Alrighty then!

I’ve worked my whole life to become a comic book illustrator, writer, and stand-up comedian. Batman and Captain Benjamin Sisko helped put a good head on my shoulders. I spent most of my childhood saving Hyrule and the Mushroom Kingdom and seeing the Justice League save all of creation time and time again. I live in Johnson City, TN with my wife Kary and daughter Laila enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and occasional show. Three puppies round out the family and take up the rest of the time that isn’t spent debating which Wes Anderson or Studio Ghibli movie to watch. I spend an inordinate amount of time binge watching SVU, Futurama, and Letterkenny, and when I’m not watching I’m listening to “My Brother, My Brother, and Me” or playing the occasional game of D&D. If there’s a nerdy endeavor out there, I’ve probably at least tried it.
