The Mandalorian has been tasked with returning his charge, a child, to its people, the Jedi. He begins searching for other Mandalorians he believes can help him find the Jedi, and is directed to a rumored Mandalorian operating out of the Tatooine town Mos Pelgo.

Video Quality
The 4K UHD Blu-Ray of The Mandalorian: Season 2 mirrors the debut season with a terrific jump in quality over the compressed Disney+ stream, keeping the series on pace to dazzle with every physical release. The HDR takes the color spectrum to unbelievable places as these unique environments pop off the screen. As you continue this journey, you are treated to dynamic, bold colors that take advantage of the format’s capabilities. The highlights are crisply defined with whites unblemished and balanced with no instances of blooming spotted. Black levels are formidable in this presentation, showcasing vast depth and worthwhile detail. The moments taking place in low light or shadow are capably delineated. With this transfer, you avoid banding, compression artifacts, and other digital anomalies.
The release comes with the next eight episodes from the sophomore season spread across two discs without the inclusion of additional Blu-Ray discs, so be sure you are 4K UHD capable if you are going with this format. The discrete facets in the costumes and production design are more textured than ever with the favorable bump in resolution. There are elements in the environments that are more prominent than ever before. The texture of the makeup effects appears clear and consistent with subtle detail for days. This 4K UHD presentation allows the series to be the best version of itself. Disney has done right by the series.
Audio Quality
The set has been given a top-tier Dolby Atmos presentation that excitingly realizes this material. The soundscape delivers an all-encompassing experience that transports you in spirit. Ambient details are near-constant even in talky exchanges as they permeate the rear and overhead channels. The overhead channels complement the other channels rather than pulling focus, which adds a nice sense of space to each outing. Sounds are carefully rendered with impeccable directionality from the more action-driven scenes to small character moments. Dialogue comes through crisp and clear without ever being drowned out by any of the competing sonic elements. The low end packs a punch when it counts, even if the series knows when to have a quiet moment The score from Ludwig Göransson defines the mood as it saturates the room memorably. This is a good audio presentation overall. There are optional English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles provided.

Final Thoughts
The Mandalorian mostly keeps up all of the qualities that made it such a fun outing during its initial run. There are a few narrative hiccups and a bit too much fan service than necessary, but overall this is a cool outing in the Star Wars universe. The production value remains high throughout these episodes, often delivering a more consistent level of quality than some of the latest films. Disney Home Entertainment has released a 4K UHD Blu-Ray featuring a great A/V presentation and a welcome assortment of special features. If you enjoy the series, you will be glad to own a copy on your shelf. Recommended

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
